VERITAS

VERITAS (STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE THIRD CYCLE BASED ON SALZBURG PRINCIPLES-№543710-TEMPUS-1-2013-1-AM-TEMPUS-SMGR) is grant project launched in December 2013. The project achievements were summarized during the final conference held at the coordinating institution – Yerevan State Medical University (YSMU) on 12th of October, 2017, with the participation of Armenian and European partner Institutions, RA HEIs and stakeholders.

VERITAS was a national grant project under Tempus programmes, the wider objective of which was to ameliorate doctoral education in Armenian Higher Education System through alignment with European Qualifications Framework and Salzburg Principles.

The specific objectives of VERITAS project were:

Strengthening human potential in research by building a critical mass of quality researchers through development, integration and efficient management of doctoral education in Armenian HE.
Promoting international recognition of the III level study programmes of the ANQF through developing and adopting award criteria that are in line with Salzburg principles and comparable with international ones.
Developing a system of quality evaluation and monitoring in scientific research by building and strengthening systems for continual tracking of relevant parameters.
Stimulating and strengthening integration of science and research at universities through establishment/revision of university structures which will promote scientific research, network knowledge in education, research and innovation, enhance quality, effectiveness, flexibility.

As a project partner among 11 Armenian HEIs and the coordinator together with Yerevan State Medical University, SAFAA actively participated in the project management and recorded the below mentioned tangible achievements that speak about the successful course and implementation of the project.

a) establishment of Research Unit, strategy designed for the Unit, functions set for the officers of the Unit.

b) Study of the PhD programme, SWOT analyses.

c) Development of SAFAA proposal for a new PhD programme and programme package, that was evaluated by the external peer-reviewers.

d) Participated in the development process of all the documents within the project; Road-map for (third cycle) PhD education, Guide to development and implementation of a Doctoral Programme in Armenia, PhD education in European universities, Study visit outcomes, Brochure on project achievements, etc.
