Horses with red eyes…
Harutyun Avagyan’s solo exhibition
Harutyun Avagyan’s solo exhibition entitled “Condition” opened in the “Albert and Tove Boyajyan” exhibition hall. The hero of the picture is perhaps the most beloved animal in the fauna, that is horse, so diverse in its manifestations that at first, it seems that there are different animals in the pictures.
The artist himself did not make special emphasis on meaning, he says that he depicted psychological states, he loved horses since he was a child, and they used to have horses themselves. There is no need to look for a special attitude, emotion, or the context of animal protection. The pictures, however, say something a little different and are more eloquent. The dark tones of the canvases add drama to the series of paintings.
“At the time when I had the idea of this exhibition hall,” says Aram Isabekyan, “I was wondering what it should look like.”
Today opened an exhibition of a wonderful artist who is looking for ways, not himself. Since he is an established artist. I wish him to keep on living with a creative mind for many years and be successful.”
The head of Fine Arts Faculty Mr Edik Vardanyan recalled the words of Mr Anatoly Papyan, the former head of Fine Arts chair who praised him with these words, “You know, don’t you?… He is an established painter”.
In his speech, the president of Artists’ Union of Armenia Mr Suren Safaryan, expressed the feelings and emotional states of the artist during the moment of creating the paintings exhibited. He outlined a series of the artist’s watercolour works and mentioned that they should definitely be exhibited in a separate exhibition.
Mr Avetik Avetisyan, the dean of the Faculty of Design and Decorative Applied Arts, told that when Harutyun Avagyan was invited to deliver lectures at the Academy, he initially resisted, saying that creative time and energy cannot be spent on teaching while working years have shown that teaching can also be a part of creativity. And the words of Mr Mkrtich Ayvazyan, the Acting Rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia, confirmed what was mentioned. “He works very well as a lecturer, is loved by the students, he is a true Armenian, a true patriot, principled person.”
