Exhibition dedicated to Journée internationale de la Francophonie
The exhibition opened yesterday at Albert and Tove Boyajian exhibition hall entitled “Paris through the Eyes of Armenian Artists” was dedicated to the International days of Francophonie. It’s more than ten years the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia has been cooperating with French institutions on art and through these years it has always participated in the mentioned event. This year the participants of the exhibition were both students and teachers; the works exhibited belonged to Aram Isabekyan, Suren Safaryan, Artur Hovhannisyan, Andrey Shugarov, Garik Manukyan and the students of Design and Decorative Applied Arts faculty.
Welcoming the participants, the Rector of the Academy Aram Isabekyan warmly spoke about the long-standing friendly relationship between Armenia and France mainly emphasising the Armenian Diaspora across the Mediterranean and the influence of French culture on the Armenian communities.
Aram Isabekyan himself had a numerous series dedicated to Paris with the impressions of the days spent in Paris in different years several of which were shown at the exhibition.
Vice-rector for Education and Science Mkrtich Ayvazyan also congratulated the participants and spoke about the ties established between SAFAA and French universities on art, particularly the Art School of Marseille. He also spread good news about a new cooperation, a new partnership agreement that was concluded with SAFAA and Paris Art School.
The exhibition was attended by the Ambassador of France to Armenia, Anne Louyot. She visited the exhibition a bit late but was impressed by the works exhibited. She said she liked the general attitude to the theme, when the artists depict and perceive Paris not only through Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame, but also transmit their feelings and impressions to the canvas; the means of expression is in abstract style.
The exhibition was attended also by the other representatives of the Embassy. The organizer of the exhibition was Mary Patvakanyan, Head of International Relations Department of SAFAA.
