Starting from March, 2022 with the initiative of Tabriz Islamic Art University negotiations started with State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia. The aim was to organize mutual visits, intercultural dialogues, exhibitions, signing agreements within bilateral cooperation, students’ and lecturers’ exchange. The University of Islamic Art turned to SAFAA numerous times with an idea to organize exhibition in Tabriz but as a result of final negotiations it was decided to meet at SAFAA. We actually greeted the idea and the guests, the representatives of Tabriz Islamic Art University under the shelter of SAFAA.
It should be also added that the long-lasted negotiations were led by an art-historian Mr. Didar Habib form Iranian side who speaks excellent Armenian and Mary Patvakanyan, head of International Relations, from SAFAA side.
As a result of those negotiations on September 13, 2022, SAFAA hosted the delegation of Tabriz Islamic Art University, the members of it: Rector, Dr., Prof. Mohammadali Kaynejad, accompanied by Head of international Affairs Dr. Farhad Akhoundi, Vice-President for Administration, Finance Affairs and resources management Dr. Sajjad Pakzad and manager for Technology & Entrepreneurship Dr. Seyed Kaveh. The delegation was accompanied by art-historian Mr. Didar Habib.
The delegation of Tabriz Islamic Art University was received by the Rector, Prof., People’s Painter Aram Isabekyan, Vice-rector on education and research Mkrtich Ayvazyan, and dean of Fine Arts faculty Edik Vardanyan, Head of International Relations Mary Patvakanyan.
As a result of negotiations, it was decided that the joint activities of two institutions will be launched in the form of mutual exhibition; it’s more likely SAFAA to be the first to start, further the exhibition of Tabriz Islamic Art University students and lecturers will be hosted at SAFAA. This was set as the first stage of cooperation; the second one will follow after recording a positive result.
Hopefully, the intercultural dialogue between two institutions of neighbouring countries will be effective and decisive to ensure further process of cooperation.
