“You are taking the first steps on your way to higher education, the most important process that will affect your future, depending on how well you will work in the next four years, how well you will demonstrate yourself as a professional and what success you will record in your professional career. Your aspiration should be to become specialists who will make people’s lives better, more comfortable and more beautiful because that is the goal of design and art in general,” said Mr.Ayvazyan.
Avetik Avetisyan, Dean of the Faculty of Design and Decorative Applied Arts, Hayk Payaslyan, Head of the Department of Computer Graphics and Fashion Design welcomed the students, talked about their duties and responsibilities, briefly introduced the structure and opportunities of the faculty.
Aram Isabekyan, who currently heads the Chair of Painting and Drawing, welcomed this choice of young people, because, as he said, the Academy of Fine Arts has a glorious history, it is the only university of fine arts in the country, it has been operating since 1945, 95 percent of professional artists of Armenia studied here, the best artists teach at the academy, who have pedagogical skills and considerable experience. He recalled his personal experience, because he spent nearly 5 decades of his life in this university, from studies to rector’s work. “The only goal was to create all the possible facilities for students to study and work effectively,” he said.
Mr. Isabekyan emphatically greeted especially those who really knew why they chose SAFAA. “This must be the result of inner convictions because this is a path of struggle. Art is a very important way for human development and self-feeling, but it is also cruel. whoever has a talent and does not use it, is punished…”
He wished the new students to get adapted quickly, to feel like a member of the academic family. “Life is changeable, today’s student later becomes a colleague, a friend, and we hold exhibitions together. we live as a unity. You are welcome!”
Abraham Sahakyan, head of the Graphics chair, considered the choice of students to study at the Academy to be an expression of trust, trust in the university and professors. “Academic education is mandatory, but not final, you have to work on yourself, and cooperate with friends; you learn not only from professors, but also from each other. We pass on to you the knowledge that our elder generation has accumulated over the years, and trust is very important. We are all here to support you,” he said.
