The development of research is one of the main spheres of SAFAA with the key priorities set out in the Strategic plan 2017-2021 under the Objective 3. Moreover it encourages the actualisation of innovation theoretic and experimental research in Art history, Fine Arts, Design and Decorative Applied Arts, targeted and organised selection of research themes and directions, research internationalisation, development and reformation of PhD programme in Arts investigation.
A huge attention is attached to the interconnection and coordination of research and teaching processes, as well as student involvement in research activities that is ensured through developing student research abilities within the frames of academic programmes, disseminating research outcomes among the students, carried out by PhD students and lecturers, publicizing and discussing students’ research works. The presentation and dissemination of research outcomes, sharing experience with partners and students through formal and non-formal meetings and discussions are highly appreciated.
SAFAA Research centre was established in November, 2014 within the frameworks of Tempus program VERITAS project- structural development of the third cycle. The aim of the centre is to organise and coordinate the research activities carried out in Fine Arts Academy, the processes of enhancement and implementation of PhD programme and post-graduates’ research education, take measures to develop the sphere of research and PhD programme, as well as enhance art research in interdisciplinary direction thus contributing to the preparation of PhD student as a young researcher, training highly qualified specialists of art history and theory, fine arts, applied arts and design, ensuring competitiveness of ongoing research activities of SAFAA at local and International levels.
