SAFAA also offers BA and MA programmes in Fashion Design on full time basis that aim at preparing specialists for a wide range on light industries. The programme offers a challenging curriculum to enable variety of solutions to complex modelling problems, development of modelling projects in line with the new trends in contemporary fashion and high aesthetic taste, generation of compositional ideas and their fruition into real life. A great importance is attached to the history of national costume and trends in worldwide fashion development. The main courses offered evolve around composition, work with material, technology, designing, architectonics, national costume pattern, European costumes, etc.
At practical level, the programme offers internships in relevant enterprises and the achieved skills are presented to the public through fashion shows organised by students.
In the 4th year of the Bachelor level, diploma work defence is carried out. Master’s degree final assessment is carried out in the form of presentation of complex creative compositional work and master’s thesis defence. The final work should express not only students’ academic knowledge and creative abilities but also research skills. For the preparation of the Master’s thesis or compositional work, a supervisor and an opponent are assigned to the graduate, and, if necessary, also a life model. The topic and scope of the final work are approved by the chair of Fashion Design.
