“A glance from another side”
Exhibition of SAFAA students at Artists’ Union of Armenia
It’s already twenty years the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia has been assuring public presentation of future artists’ personal works. “Albert and Tove Boyajian” exhibition hall serves this very purpose to provide the organization of various group or personal exhibitions of students that is an encouraging factor for the latter. And naturally the widening of the scope of their art presentation is inspiring for them. The exhibition recently opened to this purpose at the hall of Artists’ Union on the initiative of SAFAA Student Council, conveyed a festive mood to the atmosphere.
The President of Artists’ Union, graduate of the same institution, SAFAA confessed that on coming to his workplace in the morning, he entered the hall to see the works and forgot for a moment that they were all students’ works. He turned to the academic staff to express his gratitude for the efforts they put to pass on the experience to the younger generation and in particular to the Rector whose management skills led to such results. Asked about what future will look like, he said so, “We can say it will look very good, we’ll have good artists in the future. This exhibition is the best proof of it”.
“A glance from another side” exhibition hosted student works from all the department of SAFAA introducing various ways of expression of creative imagination, that included painting, graphic works, sculpture, pottery, tapestry, fashion design, notable patterns of design art, posters with new solutions of artistic thinking, as well as classical approaches in the field of painting.
In his speech to the audience, Aram Isabekyan the Rector of SAFAA noted about the benefits of exhibitions regularly organized at the hall of SAFAA and his permanent presence at them, and his delight always seeing good works and encouragement to the students. He thanked the Artists’ Union for the attention paid to the SAFAA. He highly appreciated the work of Student Council, headed by Mane Makyan. The latter is a student at his studio, and a talented artist.
Aram Isabekyan also spoke about the question frequently addressed to him, whether he had talented students: “There is not one or two, but many. We work with pleasure; this is a very important factor for an art institution. We had faced many difficulties and face till now, but the moving factor and most important one is the love towards art and, why not, to SAFAA”. He informed the students about the jubilee exhibition dedicated to the 75th anniversary of SAFAA to be held at Artists’ Union, in October of the current year that would be intended to showcase the works of SAFAA graduates of different years selected by the jury.
Mane Makyan’s speech of gratitude was addressed to the academic staff, Rector, Artists’ Union for providing the hall, the opportunity to be exhibited and to the members of Student Council for the work committed.
