“Man of God” exhibition-competition
Yesterday’s exhibition at the “Albert and Tove Boyajian” exhibition hall, entitled “Man of God”, is a competition with the participation of students of three educational programmes of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia: painting, sculpture and graphics. The initiative belongs to the “Metsn Nerses” charitable organization, whose 30th anniversary will be celebrated on June 29. The exhibition is a unique celebration of the cultural preferences of the founder of the organization, Archbishop Mesrop Ashchyan, and his philanthropic contributions in this field and, of course, is a tribute to his memory. In addition to the three prize places, each discipline has an encouraging prize to be handed and all in monetary forms.
Aram Isabekyan, the head of the Chair of Painting and Drawing, informed about this at the opening of the exhibition, welcoming the organization’s initiative, with thanks to the executive director Tigran Galstyan and the cultural advisor of the organization Lilit Galstyan. “The number of awards also makes our work easier, and the monetary side is necessary for our students really need that support,” Isabekyan said.
He recalled Mesrop Archbishop Ashchyan with gratitude. “He was a great, kind person, he cared for Armenia a lot, and he did many useful things, he was also in my studio, and we were working on joint projects together. It’s a pity, he’s not with us any more.”
Tigran Galstyan informed that on the occasion of the 30th anniversary, at the suggestion of Lilit Galstyan, despite the social orientation of the organization, it was decided to implement a cultural programme.
From her huge work experience, Lilit Galstyan highlights the importance of such cultural programmes, as she said, “as a phenomenon that enriches our spiritual reality, gives us the energy to live, create, and flatters our identity.”
“Our organization, having a spiritual founder like Mesrop Ashchyan, has always ensured a cultural presence alongside social programmes. The best way to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the organization was to organize an event in the spirit of Mesrop Ashchyan. And I am very happy that Mr Isabekyan shared our idea, and so did the Acting Rector Mkrtich Ayvazyan, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts Edik Vardanyan, Head of the Chair of Sculpture Garegin Davtyan. ”
12 works will be chosen out of those presented. The awarding ceremony will take place on June 27, at “Albert and Tove Boyajian” exhibition hall.
