Launching September
Traditional meeting with first-year students
So here is another day in a year different from all the others with mainly schoolchildren in uniforms and students seen at streets in the morning that evokes many memories. There is a beautiful tradition established at State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia related to the very day; meeting and greeting first-year students, newcomers, a tradition that was unfortunately broken the previous year by the pandemic situation.
The impression of the first day is undoubtedly important. Top management of the Academy organised a meeting with the two faculties; the faculty of Fine Arts and the faculty of Design and Decorative Applied Arts. Although because of some technical problems the electricity went off at the moment of the meeting, nevertheless it was still impressive.
Rector of the Academy familiarized the students with the management of the institution, Deans of Faculties, heads of Chairs, the teachers and President of Student Council present at the meeting.
In his congratulating speech Aram Isabekyanassured that an interesting educational environment was waiting for them. One who willingly enters the world of art should have the consciousness of the difference it may have, its peculiarities, creative approaches, be ready to face difficulties and fight through it, as far as it requires dedication and effort and diligence alongside with talentand giftedness. Pedagogical experience gathered through years testifies to this; how the hard work of a student can raise him to a noticeable unexpected success upon graduation and completion of his studies.
The Rector also briefly introduced the history of the Academy as the oldest bearer of old traditions and basics of Fine Arts, Design, Decorative Applied Arts, and Fashion Design. He also spoke about the ties and relations established with foreign institutions, especially in Europe. He also informed that this year would mark the 76th anniversary of the institution. The previous year was the jubilee of the Academy but it was postponed because of the pandemic situation; but it will be celebrated this November with a jubilee exhibition of professors and graduates of the Academy.
“Another atmosphere reigns in the Academy, another reality. I mean the manners, established traditions, creative atmosphere. Here the environment is all about art although it is an educational institution; it is filled with creative atmosphere. This art institution has its rules and I would like to ask you to familiarize with them, what responsibilities and rights the students, lecturers and top management have. The created environment, the current rules, the structure are in favor of creative work. I assure you that a few years later you will yourself notice the happiest time was the years spent at the Academy,” said Aram Isabekyan.
