Exhibition of Tigran Sosoyan
The solo exhibition of Tigran Sosoyan from the Design and Decorative Applied Arts faculty, entitled “The Art of Fonts” opened yesterday at “Albert and Tove Boyajian” exhibition hall and was dedicated to the author’s father, an artist, graphic designer Mihran Sosoyan’s 95th birthday. A catalogue was also published on this occasion.
Tigran Sosoyan’s years of dedication to the field of letter development, book and newspaper design resulted in the creation of more than two dozen new Armenian fonts. In the opening speech of the exhibition, Acting Rector of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia Mkrtich Ayvazyan highlighted the importance of his work in the development of Armenian letter art. Avetik Avetisyan, dean of the Faculty of Design and Decorative Applied Arts, appraising this exhibition dedication to the memory of Mihran Sosoyan, who once worked at the Institute of Fine Arts and Theater, mentioned his wonderfully designed books, his merits in the field of book design. He also mentioned the previous exhibition of Edik Ghabuzyan’s works dedicated to the art of letters, noting the obvious differences of the fonts created by the authors and the characteristics of each, without any imitation.
